SONA 2018

State Of the Nation Address (SONA) is an annual event. Last July 23,2018, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte delivered his third SONA in front of around 3,000 lawmakers and guests at the Batasan Pambansa in Quezon City. He delivered a 48-minute address after a one-hour and 15-minute delay.

A sudden change in House leadership, a renewed defense of the drug war, and a number of economic legislation were among the highlights of this SONA. Majority of the House of Representatives signed a manifesto of support for Pampanga Representatives Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo as House Speaker, ousting Mr. Pantaleon Alvares. He also said that he wants to have a new department which focuses mainly on disasters, praise him for saying this because we badly need it. Duterte said his concern is more on human lives not human rights. He also addressed that corruption must stop to improve delivery of services. He also warned government agencies to stop red tape, It's an idiom that refers to excessive regulation or rigid conformity to formal rules that is considered redundant that hinders action and decision making.

The SONA of our President serves as a means to inform all the citizens of our nation, the current economic, political and social condition of our country, the Philippines. He also tackled about his plans for our country. He also mentioned about his accomplishments.
