FILIPINO CITIZEN'S RESILIENCY

Resulta ng larawan para sa FILIPINO RESILIENCE
"The world recognizes the resilience of the Filipino spirit. Even after experiencing the worst disaster, we find reason to smile and laugh, we help others even if we are victims too, and we immediately go about our business. Resilience has been a remarkable strength of our citizens." This was said by Senator Loren Legarda. They say that we can recover and adjust easily. Is it true that we, Filipinos are really that resilient? Do we really cope up fast?

One of the reasons why we experience these disasters is because our country lies along the Pacific Ring of Fire, it is where many earthquakes and volcanic eruptions occur. Super Typhoon Yolanda that attacked Philippines which killed 6,000 people happened last November 2013, that was almost five years ago but these affected citizens are still slowly starting to rebuild what they lost-starting a new life. There are departments that focuses on disasters, PAG-ASA or the Philippine Atmospheric Geo-physical and Astronomical Services Administration is an agency that provides real-time updates about the weather and typhoon alerts. NDRRMC or National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council was established to pursue disaster prevention and risk reduction. There is also the Philippine Coast Guard, Project NOAH and President Duterte plans on creating an agency that focuses mainly on disaster response which we really need.

I think that these strong and many natural disasters and Human-Induced Hazards made us very resilient. These calamities are only calamities, they are inevitable and we can't stop them but we can lessen its effect by being prepared and alert. We must remain resilient- we should stand up after every downfall regardless on how big the disaster's effect is. We are Filipinos and we are not scared of anything!
